Rex is getting spoilt. Now that he's acquired a taste for salmon roe and Maggie Beer's caviar, he's vying for a high definition TV. Okay, okay, it's me who wants one.
Unfortunately, Rex and I are still stuck with a TV that's circa 1995. While the picture is still fine, there aren't enough input holes in it to keep up with today's technology. So that means that even though I can have the video, DVD player, video ipod etc all nearby, we have to keep plugging and unplugging the cables when we want to switch between them.
I'm also keen to get a high def TV so that Rex can have some little friends to play with while I'm out during the day. I already leave the TV on to keep him company but, according to reports from the US, a high def TV can convince kitties like Rexy that the animal/lizard/bird/dog on the screen is right there.
Snoopy (watching HDTV in both pics here) is a cat who loves watching high def TV. Phillip Swann writes on TVPredictions.com that Snoopy goes into attacker stance when she sees birds on his HDTV.
Apparently, when Greg, another cat owner puts his TV on Animal Planet (which is a non High def channel), his cat doesn't do much. But when he switches to Discovery High Def, he has to stop his cat from attacking the screen.
I've high def TV is so good, I think it will be a worthwhile investment. Think of the applications! Rex will think he has "real" animal friends. And if I ever have kids, I'll never have to pay for a babysitter.
