What goes around comes around (well, sort of!)

This week, I was pleased to hear from a former student, Sue. She did the course Feature Writing for Magazines and Newspapers some time ago and then managed to make a transition into a career in writing. I was so thrilled that she felt she found the skills to make a change in her career.

It was great to hear from Sue this week. Sue is now a successful full time writer. Her team is looking to hire a new marketing writer and she asked me if I would include this in the newsletter/blog. Here is the information:

Marketing Writer
• North Sydney based
• International software company
• Varied writing position

We are offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced Marketing Writer to join a dynamic international marketing team within our company.

Based in our head office in North Sydney, you will report to the Marketing Manager and be responsible for producing high quality marketing and communication materials that serve a wide variety of purposes including corporate and investor relations, marketing communications and online or print promotional campaigns.

Main activities:

  • Working with internal and external stakeholders and researching/sourcing information to develop high quality content.
  • Creating campaign deliverables such as white papers, case studies, articles, advertisements and emails.
  • Creating product sheets, brochures, flyers, presentations, media releases, articles etc.
  • Providing optimised copy for the website, intranet and extranet.
  • Ensuring deliverables have appropriate tone and messaging for relevant audiences and marketing channels.
  • Ensuring final quality sign-off and timely delivery.

Requirements:

  • 4 years + experience in a marketing writing position (preferably B2B).
  • Comfortable with technical jargon, understanding of technologies.
  • Understanding of differing writing styles for different communication channels.
  • Strong attention to detail, taking pride in workmanship.
  • Ability to work with an extremely detail conscious team.
  • Strong people, time and project management skills.
  • Proactive, innovative, creative, positive, articulate and professional.

A key requirement of this role is the ability to determine and deliver the appropriate tone and messaging for differing circumstances and delivery channels.

You must be able to prioritise and track multiple tasks (and to progress without constant supervision), and take ownership of tasks to ensure successful project completion.
