Friday Pitch Day at Allen & Unwin

I’m really pleased to let you know about a new initiative from Allen & Unwin. This is a great opportunity to first-time authors to pitch to a mainstream publisher – something that can usually be a very difficult process.

Here’s the information from Allen & Unwin:

With access to agents and publishers almost impossible for many first-time authors, Louise Thurtell - fiction publisher of Allen and Unwin's new Arena imprint - has made every Friday her pitch day.

Authors of adult popular fiction who are looking for publication can send Louise their FIRST chapter and a synopsis by email (preferably) or mail to reach her on a FRIDAY. Louise will read all submissions but will only get back to authors whose work she wants to take further. No mailed submissions will be returned, so please keep copies of any material and don't send self-addressed envelopes.

Louise has worked with Peter Temple, Gabrielle Lord, Sara Douglass, Tom Keneally and Celestine Hitiura Vaite and is looking for crime, romance, thriller, history, fantasy - whatever - so long as it's ADULT fiction (not young adult, children's or non-fiction).

To pitch by email (which Louise much prefers), send to louiset@allenandunwin.com with "Friday Pitch" in the heading - and don't forget to only send on a Friday. If you're mailing your first chapter and synopsis send it to:
