It's time to put your fingers to the keyboard of pen those short stories. Apart from the Australian Women's Weekly Short Story Competition, there are a number of other comps around. One is the 2007 Alan Marshall Short Story Award. The Nillumbik Shire Council invites Australian writers to enter a story in the Award. The Award is held annually in memory of the great Australian writer and former resident of Eltham, Alan Marshall.
There are three awards in the 2007 Alan Marshall Short Story Award:
• The Open Section Award of $2,000 for a short story of fiction of up to 2,500 words
• The Local Writers’ Award of $1,000 for a short story of fiction of up to 2,500 words
• The Young Writers’ Award (15-19 years) of $400 for a short story of fiction of up to 1,000 words
Obviously, most readers of this blog will be entering the first one, the Open Section, which as a $2,000 prize.
Here's some information from the organisers:

Entries close at 4pm on Friday 23 February 2007 and the announcement and reading of winning stories will be held at an Awards presentation event in June. All entrants will be notified of results by mail. Good luck everyone!

Do you know where I might be able to view past winners or entrants? Can't find them on the councils site. Thanks!

Hi Helen,
The council did mention that they were in the process of updating their website so hopefully it will be up soon. Otherwise, do contact the council directly and they should have the relevant information.
Good luck!
